Being a ‘Dumb’ Girl in Computer Science

The following is a short essay I wrote as part of an internship. It highlights my experiences studying computer science this past year – my struggles, failures, hopes, and ambition. It exposes some of my vulnerabilities that I am still fighting to overcome and I hope that there are people out there can relate.

I am very passionate about helping women take an interest in Computer Science. I have several ideas/theories about what keeps women back from learning, but more importantly, I feel that I may have a solution. The following are a few of my ideas/ experiences that I would like to devise into some sort of research project and apply those findings to development of software that encourages women to participate in Computer Science and to help the Laramie Robotics Club. All that I know so far is from my personal experience and background so I thought I would share it with you and hope that it leads me to the next course of action.
